MIAMI BEACH, Fla., April 19, 2022 — On Monday, May 2, 2022, at 7:00 pm ET, Jewish National Fund-USA will host its first annual Women for Israel signature event for Miami-Dade and Broward’s female philanthropists at a venue in Miami Beach. The Power of Women Cocktail Reception will kick off the week of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, by celebrating the power of Israel while simultaneously celebrating the philanthropic impact of the wonder women in the South Florida Jewish community who are passionate about ensuring a prosperous future for the land and people of Israel and Jewish people everywhere.
The event’s keynote speaker, Hannah Eyal, is a crypto-Jew and Portuguese psychologist who grew up Catholic without any connection to Israel or Judaism. After a trip to India at the age of 25, where she met Israelis for the first time, Eyal began an unexpected journey of discovering her family secrets; leading her to learn of her Jewish history, dating back to the Spanish Inquisition. Today, Eyal is a practicing Jew living in the land of Israel against all odds.

“One of the reasons we selected Eyal as the guest speaker for our Women for Israel event is to highlight just how powerful and deep the Jewish identity and ancestral connection to Israel run in our blood; it’s an integral part of who we are, even if we are completely unaware of our heritage,” said Jacqueline Yehudiel, Jewish National Fund-USA’s Director, Miami Beach and South Dade. “What better way to celebrate our common bond and this connection that can never be broken, while also celebrating Israel’s 74th birthday and all it has accomplished in just 74 years.”
