Chaired by JNFuture Los Angeles President, Alice Sherman, the event’s keynote speaker was Yuval David, an award-winning actor, host, director, filmmaker, and leading Jewish LGBTQ+ activist. David discussed the importance of using your voice to make a difference and the power of working together as a community to create change.

“My goal is to empower all Jews and our allies and our future friends to be activists, to stand up for what is right,” said David. “We’re at a time when so many of us are feeling the anxieties, the stress, the anger, and it’s important for us to gather together as a community because it’s in those moments, within this community, that we can be empowered and lean on each other.”

Local leaders also discussed Jewish National Fund-USA’s Israel Resilience Campaign, which has raised $60 million since October 7, 2023, supporting the evacuation and relocation of tens of thousands of residents in Israel’s south while providing thousands more with housing, food, clothing, and other supplies.

The campaign includes the organization’s Build Together plan, a bold, strategic initiative to rebuild the Israel Envelope communities – cleaning up the region, designing and constructing new homes, and helping small businesses reopen, all while supporting the immediate and long-term security needs, physical and mental health requirements, and resilience efforts to create a welcoming environment for evacuees to return home.

“I love Jewish National Fund-USA because the organization has had a strong presence in Israel for over a century,” said Alice Sherman. “When the unthinkable happened [on October 7], Jewish National Fund-USA was on the ground – literally on day one – supporting these communities we have worked with for decades, providing immediate resources such as security equipment for soldiers, helping to evacuate families to safer regions, providing essential hygiene needs, resilience centers, and physical and emotional therapy.”

In addition, attendees were invited to attend Jewish National Fund-USA’s Global Conference for Israel taking place in Dallas from Thursday, November 14 to Sunday, November 17 (jnf.org/gc).

Jewish National Fund-USA’s fastest-growing demographic, JNFuture, is the organization’s community of young professionals ages 22-40 who share a commitment and passion for the land and people of Israel.
