Jewish National Fund-USA Announces Solidarity Mission to Israel on First Anniversary of October 7 Tragedy

NEW YORK, August 8, 2024:  Jewish National Fund-USA has unveiled plans for a unique solidarity mission to Israel, set to coincide with the first anniversary of the October 7 massacre.

The “We Choose Life” mission (jnf.org/travel), taking place from October 6-9, 2024, will bring supporters to Israel to honor those who were murdered, taken hostage, or still missing, and reaffirm the organization’s steadfast commitment to the land of Israel and its people.

The solidarity mission will guide participants through crucial sites impacted by the terrorist attacks, offering a chance to pay respects and witness ongoing recovery efforts firsthand. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with survivors, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers, first responders, and community leaders who have shown remarkable resilience in the aftermath of the attacks.

“As we approach the first anniversary of the October 7 tragedy, Jewish National Fund-USA offers a powerful opportunity to transform grief into action and fear into hope,” said Mission Chair Deb Lust Zaluda. “This solidarity mission allows participants to stand united with our family and friends in Israel, remembering and honoring those lost while witnessing the incredible resilience of the people of Israel. By joining this journey, individuals can play a direct role in Israel's story of strength and renewal, affirming that once again, even in the face of tragedy, our shared bonds and commitment to mitzvot, good deeds, justice, and life-affirming rituals, we continue to light the way forward. Together, we honor the past while building a stronger, more united future for Israel.”

Former Jewish National Fund-USA Central New Jersey Board President Saul Sutton emphasized the powerful impact, and the physical, emotional, and moral support participants will bring to uplift Israelis as the nation mourns.

"This solidarity mission is more than a journey; it's a powerful statement of our enduring bond with Israel and its people,” said Sutton. “Walking on the grounds where tragedy struck and meeting those who have shown incredible resilience, we affirm that love is stronger than hate and that life will always triumph over destruction. We choose to remember, stand together, and, above all, we choose life."

The itinerary includes visits to memorial sites, discussions with experts on regional security and community rebuilding, and opportunities to meet with residents living on the border with Gaza to hear their stories of pain, courage, and hope, and so they know they’re not alone. Participants will also explore Jewish National Fund-USA's ongoing initiatives in the region, which continue to improve the quality of life for all Israelis.

This mission underscores Jewish National Fund-USA's enduring commitment to supporting the land and people of Israel, particularly during challenging times. By bringing supporters to Israel at this meaningful moment, the organization aims to highlight the strength of the diaspora's connection to Israel and its people.
