Attendees were excited to reconnect with community members in person at the first Jewish National Fund-USA event in Delaware since the start of the pandemic. They enjoyed delicious food and learned about the organization’s critical work in the Negev and Galilee, including its support of Arad, the Wilmington Jewish community’s “sister city” in Israel.

The event featured keynote speaker David Makovsky, an Arab-Israeli relations and U.S. policy expert, journalist, author, and distinguished fellow at The Washington Institute. The former Senior Advisor to the Special Envoy for Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations offered a razor-sharp analysis of the Biden administration and its relationship with the Middle East.

“The Delaware Jewish community has always had a close relationship and connection to the land and people of Israel,” said event chair Martin Lessner. “It was wonderful to finally see everyone and to come together to learn about how Jewish National Fund-USA makes Israel a better place, while also gaining some key insights from an expert about the current state of the United States and the Middle East.”

The event also paid tribute to Jewish National Fund-USA Delaware board member Seth Bloom, who recently passed away.
